Duke, or "the Duke" as we like to say, is the in utero name we have applied to our little guy. Last night I pulled a marathon session after work and we got his room functional. The greatest thing about this is that there are no more big boxes stuffed in corners of the living room with unassembled furniture in them.
Anyway, in our last post we cleaned out my old office and turned it into a blank slate. The first thing that needed to be done was to add new baseboard trim to the room as our new baseboard heating system added a taller scar to the bottom than our old trim could cover. We went for 5.5" trim and it looks great.
Next came a pretty comical assembly of some Chinese furniture. You'd think I could read and follow directions being an engineer, but I suppose my being a man overrode this predisposition for success and I ended up having to take most everything apart at least once to re deploy my screws and bolts in the proper way when I would run out of parts. Anyway, around 10pm last night we got Duke's room mostly together. Now we just have to fill it with tons of crap and add some wall decorations... Sorry about the photos being all wonky, but in order to get the whole room in a shot I had to stitch 4 images together with some software.
About half an hour after we assembled the crib, Misty thought she would do her best impression of Sylvester Stallone's 'Cliffhanger' and scratched the hell out of the front of the crib on an ill conceived and hastily aborted jump. We knew it would get thrashed over the next few years, but we thought it might last longer than 30 minutes!
Gorgeous!
